Girls basketball: Reigning player of the year Paulina Paris is headed to Saddle River Day

A desire to play a competitive schedule alongside friends made on the AAU circuit led Paulina Paris to leave Albertus Magnus and head across the state line to Saddle River Day in New Jersey.

AG电子游戏攻略“It’s official,” Paris said Friday morning. “I loved Albertus. I just think at Saddle River Day, all my AAU friends are there and I enjoyed the school when I visited. It’s not that I didn’t love Albertus. It’s just that I wanted to finish out my last two years strong, playing a really competitive schedule. That was truly it.”

She is a threat whenever the ball is in her possession.

Paris averaged 25 points per game last season for the Falcons. The dynamic combination guard also collected seven rebounds, three steals and two assists per game, making good on 55% of her attempts from the field and 33% of her attempts from behind the arc.

AG电子游戏攻略“I’m going to miss my Albertus team,” she said. “I enjoyed playing with them. I’m going to miss coach (Pat) Buckley and the entire coaching staff. They all helped me a lot in the last two years. I’m sad to go, but I’m happy for all the things they gave me. I appreciate all of it.”

AG电子游戏攻略Buckley has been part of several conversations with Paris and her father, Bryan, over the last six weeks.

AG电子游戏攻略“Paulina is a great kid," he said. "We wish her well. She is very talented and has a very bright future wherever she's playing. I just had a Zoom meeting with my team. They all knew. We’re looking forward to getting back to work in our own gym. They've been working. I told them we have to plan and prepare like we’re going to play.”

There will be some familiar names and faces at Saddle River Day, which has won five straight Bergen County titles.

“I know the whole team basically, except for the incoming freshmen,” Paris added. “I’ve played with a lot of them, or trained with them. That part will be nice.”

AG电子游戏攻略Paris is again playing with Team Rio, an Under Armour club team based in New Jersey. She is early in the recruiting process, but is already being chased by a growing list of Division I teams across the country.

AG电子游戏攻略“I’m not beginning to narrow the list down yet because I still have another year,” she said. “I am doing online visits and talking with coaches, but nothing more than that.”
