AG电子游戏攻略Mall owners in New York on Friday jumped at the opportunity to be allowed to finally reopen.

Four months after Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered malls to close due to the coronavirus pandemic, the retail centers have been allowed to reopen on the condition that owners upgrade ventilation filtration systems and enforce social distancing to the greatest extent possible.

RETAIL: Amazon delivery station set to open in Rockland

News of malls reopening, as reported by The Journal News/lohud, come three days after the Hudson Valley region, which includes Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, Putnam and Sullivan counties entered Phase 4 of Cuomo’s reopening.

Here is a list of the malls open as of today :

  • Palisades Center in West Nyack
  • The Westchester in White Plains
  • Poughkeepsie Galleria in Poughkeepsie
  • Galleria at Crystal Run in Middletown
  • Eastview in Victor
  • Destiny USA in Syracuse
  • The Mall at Greece Ridge in Rochester
  • Crossgates in Albany
  • Marketplace Mall in Rochester
  • Aviation Mall in Queensbury
  • Champlain Centre in Plattsburgh
  • Salmon Run Mall in Watertown
  • Sangertown Square in New Hartford
  • Walden Galleria in Buffalo

Ownership of the Galleria Mall in White Plains said the mall will reopen on Saturday at 11 a.m.

AG电子游戏攻略Shoppers at the Palisades Center said despite the threat of coronavirus, the atmosphere at the mall felt safe and clean on the day of reopeing. 

George and Karen Isaksen, two shoppers at from Tapan, said it was good to see the Palisades Center reopen after many months and that they felt the center is spacious enough to allow for the nescessary the social distancing to stay healthy.

AG电子游戏攻略"[The Palisades Center] is a lot quieter now, but it looks fine and I am glad to see so many of the stores are still here," Karen Isaken said.

Donna Carlone, a shopper from Nanuet said although she hasn't been to the Palisades Center since 2019, it was good to see shops reopen.

The resident from Nanuet said the social distancing requirements felt like fear mongering.

"Let's not get political, but I am glad that [the mall] is open and people can start to resume their lives," Carlone said. 

Westchester County Executive George Latimer said the reopening of the malls is a necessary and important step towards returning to normal.

But only time will tell if New Yorkers are ready to shop indoors.

"[Reopening the malls] is an important step because the longer the malls are closed, the less sales tax we see from shopping activity," he said. " A lot of folks, even when a facility opens, there are some number of people that aren't comfortable about going back out and engaging the public."

AG电子游戏攻略Rockland County Executive Ed Day said his administration was happy to see the Palisades Center reopen even though it should have taken less time. 

The property, he said, supports 225 businesses and 5,000 residents.

"We are pleased the governor has seen the way so that we can open up the number one tourist attraction in Rockland County," Day said at a press event on Friday. 

The Democrat & Chronicle reported not all stores at Eastview, the mall at Greece Ridge and the Marketplace Mall will be open today.
